The Last Best Hope of Earth

In what sense is America the "last best hope of earth"?
As a Christian, it's hard for me to share in this sentiment because I know that all earthly kingdoms / countries are destined to fade away. Of course, that may not happen for a while, so we could talk about the hope the U.S. brings to the world. But what hope is that? Hope for freedom, peace, prosperity, and happiness? Even if the U.S. could deliver all of these to the world, each person who enjoys these things must eventually die--then what? Perhaps you mean that the U.S. is the best hope because it will spread the gospel to all nations on earth, bringing people eternal hope in Jesus Christ?
